The Chemical Division of United Oil Projects Company in early 2012 was awarded Certification to ISO 14001:2004 Standard from Certification Registrar, Bureau Veritas.ISO 14001:2004 is an internationally accepted Standard that defines the criteria for an effective Environmental Management System. The main purpose of an Environmental Management System is to •Demonstrate the Company’s commitment to the Environment •Support environmental protection and prevention of pollution in balance with socioeconomic needs. •Improve environmental performance by managing the environmental impacts of business operations. With the new ISO standard, UOP has achieved the milestone ‘First company of its kind in Kuwait to have its Management System confirming to the requirements of both ISO 9001:2008 – Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2004 – Environmental Management System’.
